The Ultrasound Diagnostics Team

Emanuel "Manny"

RVT, RDCS — Technical Director

Manny is a registered diagnostic cardiac sonographer (RDCS) and registered vascular technologist (RVT) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), the main accreditation organization for sonographers.

Manny’s role is to acquire images for vein mappings. These are used to help the providers create a treatment plan and to provide ultrasound guidance for all treatments. When working with patients, he listens closely to where their sources of discomfort are so he can be sure to get appropriated images which will result in the best outcome. He also tries to connect with patients and get to know them a bit more on a personal level, making for a more comfortable and less intimidating visit.

Prior to VHC, he worked as a Cardiovascular and Vein Lab Technical Director for 10 years, in New York until Dr. Asbjornsen recruited him to come to Maine. His background includes providing an array of diagnostic imaging tests, including stress testing, echocardiography, and general vascular and vein specialized procedures.

“Knowing that I make a difference in a patient’s health is very rewarding. I have seen patients that have chronic leg swelling, heavy legs with achiness, and even ulcerations. Providing the guidance required to treat the patient is rewarding since I have assisted in the patient’s overall treatment and quality of life.”

Sam

RVT, RDMS — Ultrasound Technologist

Registered Vascular Technologist , Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Sam has over 20 years of hospital and private practice vascular diagnostic ultrasound experience. He trained at Thomas Jefferson Hospital for Diagnostic Ultrasound and was previously the Program Director for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography at a school in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Sam’s role is to evaluate patients for venous disease and assist with minimally invasive venous intervention procedures. He also makes patients feel welcome and explains the process before, during, and after evaluations. He strives to ensure that patients are relaxed, pain-free, and comfortable.

Emily

Emily, RVS, RPhS — Ultrasound Technologist

Emily received her Bachelor of Exercise Science from St. Joseph’s College in Maine, with a minor in Psychology. She trained extensively in ultrasound at VHC before receiving her credentials. Emily’s role is to map the venous system of the lower extremities and evaluate for vein disease, as well as to assist with minimally invasive venous intervention.

“When I am working with a patient, my goal is to make them feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible. It’s the most rewarding when a patient tells us that we have drastically improved their quality of life.”

Brianna

Ultrasound Technician

Brianna graduated from NHTI Concord's Community College, with clinicals at Mercy, Stephen's Memorial, and MaineHealth Mid Coast Hospital. She has more than four years of ultrasound experience, working in both inpatient and outpatient settings. For the first two-and-a-half years her work focused on abdominal, small parts, and OBGYN, and then she specialized in urology ultrasound.

Brianna’s role at VHC is to performing ultrasound tests, evaluate patients for vascular disease, and assist in venous procedures. She strives to keep a calm and relaxed environment and always explains to patients what she’s doing beforehand so that they are as comfortable as possible.

Bethany

Practice Manager

Bethany has almost 20 years of experience in healthcare administration. Before VHC, she was an Office Manager for a large multi-location specialty practice that provided a wide range of services including spinal procedures, surgical procedures, osteopathic manipulation management, acupuncture, behavioral health care, and addiction medicine.

At VHC, Bethany oversees the daily operations and works continuously to improve internal processes to meet patient needs. Bethany’s strong focus on patient relations allows her to address concerns with empathy and to help create a welcoming environment.

Keila

Business Manager

Keila provides support to our providers and all staff in a variety of areas, including patient intake and scheduling, prior insurance authorizations, and following up on acute patient issues. She graduated from the University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor’s Degree in Athletic Training and holds a Masters Degree in Healthcare Administration from the Southern New Hampshire University.

Keila enjoys streamlining processes and workflows to help the team operate smoothly and efficiently while providing exceptional care. In everything she does, she always keeps the focus on doing what’s best for our patients.

Patient Care Coordinators

Shannon

Lead Patient Care Coordinator

Shannon is one of our Patient Care Coordinators, helping to ensure that the process goes as smoothly as possible for our patients, whether she is scheduling appointments, answering questions, or listening to their concerns.

Prior to working at VHC, Shannon was an office manager for a physical therapy clinic for four years and the Director's Assistant for a rehab facility, which offered physical, occupational, respiratory, and speech therapy. She spent the last 10 years in retail management, and with her strong customer service background, patients’ needs are always her top priority.

Casi

Patient Care Coordinator

Before joining the VHC team, Casi worked at a Family Practice in Kennebunk for 11 years, first as a Medical Assistant and then as a Medical Receptionist. She received her Medical Assistant Certificate from Seacoast Career School.

Casi checks patients in and out of their appointments, helps with scheduling, and answers any questions patients may have. She finds it most rewarding to play a role in making a difference in patients’ lives by improving their overall wellbeing.

Patrick

Patient Care Coordinator

As Patient Care Coordinator, Patrick greets patients, checks them in, schedules appointments, and answers questions upon check-out. He has previous experience in the dental field and substance use disorder treatment centers.

Patrick endeavors to treat each patient with kindness and compassion in every interaction!

Kim

Patient Care Coordinator

Kim has a background in teaching and brings her strengths of multi-tasking and organization to the Vein Healthcare Center. As an educator, she has honed her communication skills and speaks with patients with compassion.

As a Patient Care Coordinator, Kim checks patients in and out, schedules appointments, and answers patients’ questions. She loves playing a role in making a difference in patients’ lives by improving their wellbeing.

Melina

Medical Assistant

Melina has a background in Biology and Public Health, including extensive mobile medical clinic work in Kenya. She prepares patients for examinations and assists providers during procedures, ensuring patients feel heard and supported.

Emma

Medical Assistant

Emma’s experience is rooted in a love of helping the community. For the last eight years she been a Certified Nursing Assistant and a Certified Medical Technician, allowing her the opportunity to care for vulnerable neighbors and safeguarding those who need it most.

At VHC, Emma prepares patients for their appointments, assists in venous procedures, and offer behind-the-scenes support to keep everything running smoothly. Her primary goal as a Medical Assistant is to make patients feel welcome, safe, comfortable, and informed throughout their treatment.

Johnny

Medical Assistant

Johnny graduated from Bates College in 2025 as a biochemistry major and mathematics minor. He has shadowed physicians in orthopedic surgery, family medicine, and physicians who teach at medical schools. Johnny also volunteers in a hospice setting.

Johnny’s duties as Medical Assistant include taking patients’ vitals, preparing them for treatments, assisting providers during venous procedures, and other administrative tasks such as record keeping.

“I like getting to know who patients are outside of vein treatments. It’s rewarding to be even a small part of a patient’s journey towards healing and wellbeing!”

Samantha

Medical Assistant

As a Medical Assistant at VHC, Samantha welcomes patients, prepares them for their visit, and assist in various ablation procedures. She does her best to ensure that every patient is comfortable during their visit by providing an extra blanket or stress ball, answering questions, and offering reassurance.

Samantha is a junior at the University of New England studying Medical Biology with a double minor in Applied Mathematics and Public Health. She hopes to attend medical school after completing her undergraduate education. She has extensive experience in research and teaching, as well as owning and operating an ice cream shop.

“I find this field fulfilling because I have the opportunity to see returning patients and discuss their progress both medically and personally. The most rewarding part of my job is meeting our lovely and diverse patients”

Isadora "Isa"

Medical Assistant

Isa graduated from Bates College with Bachelor's degrees in History and Biology. Before joining VHC, she worked as a Medical Assistant for an OB/GYN and volunteered at a reproductive health clinic that provides accessible care to the community.

Isa greets patients, prepares medications, assists in venous procedures, and provides administrative support. Patient care is her priority, and she strives to make the experience comfortable by listening to patients, bringing levity to interactions, and allaying any nervousness with warmth, education, and understanding.
