Dr. Cindy Asbjornsen, D.O., FAVLS, DABVLM, RPhS is the Founder and Medical Director of the Vein Healthcare Center. Over the past several decades, she has risen to the forefront of the emergent field of vascular health and phlebology.

She was among the very first vein specialists in Northern New England to meet the comprehensive board certification standards set forth by the American Board of Venous & Lymphatic Medicine. With clinical phlebology as her principal focus, she continues to play an essential role in pioneering patient care during an era where minimally invasive endovenous treatments have completely replaced old-fashioned, painful procedures like surgical vein stripping.

A Nationally Recognized Leading Vein Specialist
Dr. Asbjornsen received her intensive specialty training alongside the nation's leading phlebologists, mastering advanced skills in ambulatory phlebectomy, surface and ultrasound-guided sclerotherapy, thermal endovenous laser ablation (EVLA), radiofrequency closures, and detailed duplex vascular ultrasound evaluations. She is a board-certified Family Practice physician, having completed her comprehensive residency training at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, Maine. Additionally, she holds advanced credentials as a Registered Phlebology Sonographer (RPhS).
Her specialized clinical expertise quickly distinguished Dr. Asbjornsen as an industry educator. She was invited to join the formal faculty of the AVLS Annual Congress—the country's premier program for advanced phlebology education. Among her notable contributions to vascular science, she received first-place recognition at the AVLS national conference for her investigative work on "Symptomatic Middle Cerebral Artery Embolism after Foam Sclerotherapy".
Dr. Asbjornsen presented her advanced scientific poster abstract, "EHIT I Can Progress and Should Not Be Ignored," at the landmark UIP World Congress, where she also served the international medical community as an official abstract judge for oral presentations. She currently serves as a member and co-chair of the AVLS Advanced Practice Provider Committee, and maintains active alignment with the Foundation for Venous & Lymphatic Disease to support research, medical education, and public health advocacy.
